Reordering Rules in Odoo 18 Inventory

Inventory management is a critical aspect of any business, and Odoo 18 simplifies it with Reordering Rules. Reordering rules help maintain stock levels within a defined range by setting a minimum and maximum quantity for each product.
* The minimum quantity ensures that stock does not drop below a critical level.

* The maximum quantity prevents excessive stock accumulation.

1. Navigate to the Product Form

* Go to Inventory > Products > Products and select or create a product.

* In the same tab, find the Track Inventory checkbox.

* Ensure it is ticked to allow Odoo to track stock levels.

4. Configure Manufacturing (If Applicable)

* If the product is manufactured, install the Manufacturing app.

* Navigate to the Inventory tab.

* In the Routes field, tick the Manufacture checkbox.

Steps to Create a Reordering in Odoo18

Reordering can also be created from the Reordering Rules smart button on the product form or Go to Inventory app, Click on Operations → Replenishment or We can also see the Product tab. Click 'More,' and you will see the Reordering Rule.

1. Create a New Reordering Rule:

* Click the New button.

2. Fill Out the Required Fields:

* Product: Select the product that needs to be replenished.

* Location: Choose the storage location for the product.

* Min Quantity: Set the minimum forecasted quantity before replenishment is triggered.

* Max Quantity: Define the maximum quantity up to which stock is replenished.

* Multiple Quantity: Enter the specific quantity to be ordered (if applicable).

Trigger:

1. Auto

* Automatic reordering rules (set to Auto in the Trigger field) create purchase or manufacturing orders when:

* The scheduler runs, and the Forecasted Quantity is below the minimum.

* A Sales Order (SO) is confirmed, making the Forecasted Quantity drop below the minimum.

* If the Buy route is selected, an RFQ (Request for Quotation) is created.

* If the Manufacture route is selected, an MO (Manufacturing Order) is created.

2. Manual

* When a product is on the replenishment dashboard, clicking Order creates a purchase or manufacturing order for the needed quantity.

* When stock falls below the minimum quantity, the system triggers replenishment based on the product’s designated route:

* If the product follows the Buy route, the system generates a Request for Quotation (RFQ) to reorder the item from a supplier.

* If the product follows the Manufacture route, the system creates a Manufacturing Order (MO) to produce the item.

* This process applies regardless of the specific replenishment route chosen for the product.
